BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Idaho State Police Forensic Services received more than 3,400 toxicology cases this past year, the most seen in a decade.
Blood toxicology submissions increased roughly 16%, while urine toxicology submissions decreased about 10%.
Nine out of 10 adult DUI toxicology cases revealed at least one drug present. Meanwhile, 88% of juvenile cases showed testing above the legal alcohol limit.
The most common confirmed drugs were cannabinoids, amphetamine/methamphetamine and fentanyl/nonfentanyl.
ISP hopes to continue focusing on impaired driving enforcement, education and prevention efforts statewide.
