Girl, 5, dies after being hit by car outside school in north

A five-year-old girl has died after she was hit by a ute while riding a scooter outside a school in Sydney's north-west this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Rouse Hill Public School on Clower Avenue about 3.45pm.

Police were told the kindergartener was riding a scooter on the footpath when she was fatally struck by the vehicle.

Paramedics treated her at the scene before she was taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital.

The driver, a 43-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established and investigation is under way.
