In a significant development, King Charles has announced that Prince Andrew will be stripped of all his royal titles and honours, including the title of 'prince'. Buckingham Palace confirmed this evening that Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. The decision comes amid ongoing scrutiny regarding Andrew's connections to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, allegations which he has consistently denied. Earlier this month, Andrew relinquished the use of his other titles, including the Duke of York, following increasing pressure. Buckingham Palace stated, "His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew." The Palace also noted that Andrew's lease on the Royal Lodge, where he resided with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, has provided him with legal protection to remain there. However, formal notice has now been served for him to surrender the lease, and he will be required to move to alternative private accommodation. The Palace emphasised that these actions are deemed necessary, despite Andrew's denial of the allegations against him. "Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse," the statement added. It is reported that Andrew will relocate from his Windsor home to a property on the private Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. This decision follows the Palace's assessment of "serious lapses of judgment". The move will be privately funded by King Charles, and it is understood that Andrew did not object to the King's decision. Prince William is believed to have supported the decision regarding private arrangements. The relocation is expected to occur as soon as practicable, with Andrew receiving an appropriate private provision from the King. Any other financial matters will be left for the former duke to manage. Meanwhile, Andrew's daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, will retain their royal titles, as they are the children of a Sovereign, in accordance with King George V's Letters Patent of 1917.
