CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) will be offering a zero-fare initiative on Election Day, designed to reduce barriers for voters.
The initiative, named "CAT to the Polls", will provide zero-fare rides on fixed-route and paratransit vehicles from 5 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. on Nov. 4.
The initiative was unanimously approved during the CAT Board of Directors meeting on Oct. 28.
“Access to the polls is essential to a healthy democracy,” said Stephanie Cutter, Interim Executive Director/CEO of CAT. “By removing the cost of transportation on Election Day, we’re helping make voting more equitable and accessible for everyone in our community.”
