New rehabilitation center breaks ground in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG, Wis. (WKOW) — Fitchburg community leaders celebrated the groundbreaking of a new rehabilitation center in the city on Thursday.

UW Health, UnityPoint Health — Meriter and LifePoint Rehabilitation's center will have 40 private rooms as a partner of the existing in-patient facility in East Madison.

The 58,000 square-foot facility will be located at 5094 Greenmarket Place at the southwest corner of Lacy Road and Highway 14. It's strategically located within a 10-mile radius of 70% of Dane County's population.

"Fitchburg is one of the fastest growing communities in our region, and with that growth comes a vital need for expanded medical services, especially comprehensive post acute rehabilitation care," said UW Health University Hospital Chief Nursing Officer Michele McClure.
