HERRIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Herrin Police Department is investigating a series of burglaries involving vehicles and residences in the area.

On October 30, 2025, officers responded to the 1900 block of West Adams Street after a homeowner reported three individuals attempting to break into a vehicle. Police said the suspects fled, leaving a stolen truck behind, which was later returned to its owner.

A K-9 unit tracked the suspects to a nearby residence on West Monroe Street, but no arrests were made. Since then, several reports of burglaries have been filed throughout Herrin.

Authorities urge residents to lock their vehicles and homes and avoid leaving valuables in cars. Those with surveillance footage or who can identify individuals from the videos are asked to contact the Herrin Police D
