SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Thursday passed the Jammu and Kashmir Tenancy Bill, 2025.
The Bill was moved in the House by Minister for Health, Education and Social Welfare, Sakeena Itoo on behalf of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
“A Bill to establish Rent Authority to regulate renting of premises and to protect the interests of landlords and tenants and to provide speedy adjudication mechanism for resolution of disputes and matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. (L.A. Bill No. 4 of 2025),” reads the passed Bill.
The Bill was passed by the House through a voice vote.
MLA Nizam-ud-din Bhat had moved an amendment to the Bill seeking that “In Clause 32 (2) of the Bill, the words, ” thirty days” be substituted by the words, “ninety days”.
