Penn State football’s head coaching search is ongoing as the Nittany Lions look for their permanent replacement for James Franklin.

One potential contender for the PSU job has just signed an extension with his current team, a move that all but eliminates him from consideration for the Lions’ job.

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule, a man with strong Pennsylvania ties, has signed a two-year extension to remain with the Cornhuskers, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Thursday.
