CLEVELAND, Ohio — After a damp, blustery start to Thursday, Northeast Ohio faces a full day of raw fall weather, with rain and strong winds set to linger into Friday.

A deepening low-pressure system tracking north through the central Appalachians is spreading steady, occasionally-heavy rain across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland . Most areas are expected to pick up another three-quarters of an inch to 2 inches of rainfall by early Friday, with the highest totals likely in the primary snowbelt east of Cleveland.

Temperatures will hold in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees through the afternoon as colder air filters in behind the storm. Winds off Lake Erie will strengthen through the day, gusting to 40 to 45 mph along the shoreline from Lorain County east
