GREENSBORO, N.C. — What looks like a pile of dirt today will soon become the front entrance to Guilford County’s next generation of schools.

At the site of the former Sternberger Elementary School , construction crews are clearing what’s left of the foundation and preparing the ground for a brand-new campus — one of six major school projects now underway across the district.

“You look back that way, parallel to Chapel Church — that will be the whole front entrance,” said Dr. Julius Monk , Deputy Superintendent of Business and Operations for Guilford County Schools, “As you can see, you still have some of the building slab, some of the foundation will also be removed.”
