Back in the early days of the Texans, I introduced Janice McNair as the "First Lady of the franchise." She later told me that she didn't feel quite right about that title because she knows actual first ladies.
Nobody lights up a room like Janice McNair. Together with her husband and co-founder, Bob, she was part of a charismatic, influential couple that changed Houston forever.
Mrs. McNair is humble and strong. Her son, Cal, has called her a "steel magnolia." Pro Football Hall of Fame writer John McClain often reminisces about his first meetings with the McNair's in which Janice would answer any tough question and had an accent "as sweet as Tupelo honey."
Seeing Janice McNair at a Texans practice or prior to a game is as big a thrill as a C.J. Stroud touchdown pass or Will Anderson Jr.
