MAHONING VALLEY, Ohio - As the federal government shutdown extends into November, it won't just be SNAP benefits that could see some disruption.

Across Ohio, approximately 4,000 children who rely on Head Start programs could lose access to care. So, how does that affect families in the Mahoning Valley?

Vince Paolucci, the CEO of Alta Head Start, said the program does rely on federal funds, but has their budget in place through June.

“Our grant cycle does not end until June of 2026. So we are not affected by the current shutdown. But unfortunately, there are about 65,000 enrollees across 141 programs that it appears may be shutting down, or not even operate due to the government shutdown,” said Paolucci.
