NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News police said four people are in police custody after an incident involving an abduction on Thursday morning.

Police said at around 6:13 a.m., they were called to a residence in the zero block of Astor Drive, off of Warwick Boulevard, after receiving a call for a welfare check that could involve a possible abduction.

"They had the whole neighborhood shut down to where you had to go all the way around the entrance. They had SWAT teams coming from the front and the back. There was a sniper up on the roof," said Zach Andrew, who has lived in the area for over a decade.

Police said they located two victims on the scene that they determined were safe. Two people were then arrested. Newport News police said all of the people involved were known to each other.
