A longtime staple on WBZ-TV has been shown the door.

Political analyst Jon Keller was let go from the Boston TV station this week, the Herald has learned, as Paramount slashes thousands of jobs.

Five employees were cut at WBZ in this round of layoffs.

Keller was considered “freelance on-air talent” at the station. He joined WBZ-TV in 2005, and his “Keller @ Large” reports were regularly featured during WBZ News at 5 and 6 p.m.

According to Keller’s bio page on the WBZ website, he’s “widely regarded as the top political analyst in New England.”
