One of the larger food banks in Central Florida is gearing up to help feed more people if SNAP benefits run up Saturday, but they say they cannot fill the gap.
Second Harvest Food Bank provided 82 million meals last year to families in these seven counties: Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia.
The chief development officer, Greg Higgerson, says they are worried about the increase in people.
"We know that about 500,000 people in Central Florida are relying on those benefits. That's in addition to all of our federal employees and other folks that are kind of layered on top of all of this situation. So we're pretty anxious," Higgerson said.
