WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) - The Ohio Supreme Court is being asked to appoint a judge to hear the felonious assault case against Liberty Township Trustee Devon Stanley.

A Thursday filing in Trumbull County Common Pleas states that no "sitting judge of the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court is eligible to hear this case based upon the existing conflicts of interest."

The filing requests that the chief justice assign a sitting or retired judge to preside over the case.

Stanley, who is also a prosecutor in Girard Municipal Court, is accused of repeatedly punching a woman, breaking her ribs and nose, and causing numerous bruises. Stanley was arrested at a Niles High School football game.
