Gov. J.B. Pritzker has signed an executive order directing $20 million in state funds to food banks as Illinois prepares for a pause in federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, effective Nov. 1.

The order initiates a statewide response to address food access gaps resulting from the suspension of federal funding.
