AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Project Life served a record-breaking 184 families in one day this week, marking the highest single-day total for the organization.

Erik Sowder, director of operations at Project Life, said the food pantry typically serves about 130 families daily. The surge came Wednesday as families prepare for upcoming changes to SNAP benefits in November.

“As we all know with the SNAP benefits changing coming into November, a lot of people are trying to gear up, catch pantries while they can before they potentially run out,” Sowder said.
