WASHINGTON — Fifteen years after an American University professor was killed, a jury convicted the man believed to have murdered her.

According to the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, a jury found 55-year-old Jorge Rueda Landeros guilty of second-degree murder for the 2010 death of 52-year-old Sue Ann Marcum.

On Oct. 25, 2010, Sue Marcum was found dead in the basement of her home, which, according to the FBI , looked like it had been burglarized. Officials later determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and asphyxiation. Investigators later learned Rueda Landeros had been Marcum’s Spanish and yoga teacher before the pair developed a personal and financial relationship.
