The singular proposal submitted to save Akron's historic Firestone Plant 1 from demolition also aims to solve the city's conundrum about what to do about a new home for the police department.

Amerimar Realty Company of Philadelphia — which in 2016 transformed a warehouse adjacent to the plant into the Russel M. Pry Building — has suggested turning the front bay of the Firestone plant at 1200 Firestone Parkway into Akron police's new headquarters, including preservation of the landmark clock tower.
