SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - First responders and community leaders spent the day learning about how to be more efficient when it comes to crisis management.

“What’s exciting about what we are doing today is that a phone call is all it took,” said Springfield Fire Chief David Pennington.

And before you know it, 300 professionals from 65 different organization where gathered.

“We are going to talk about preparedness and resilience,” said Chief Pennington.

And learning how to navigate and manage a crisis from experts in the field at Harvard University.

“I think it is recognized that communities today have to stand up and prepare for, be ready to respond, and be ready to be resilient in the face of whatever hits them,” said Dr. Leonard Marcus from Harvard University.
