One person was taken to the hospital with injuries following an incident at the Interstate 19 immigration checkpoint on Sunday evening.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, which assisted with traffic control, was notified of an officer-involved shooting, according to Chief Deputy Gerardo Castillo. At around 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, a Border Patrol agent was “involved in a use of force incident involving a service weapon,” according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson. ×
