Looking to shore up their organizational defensive depth, the Flyers acquired another promising prospect at that position on Wednesday.

The team picked up Christian Kyrou from the Dallas Stars in exchange for forward Samu Tuomaala, general manager Daniel Briere announced.

The 22-year-old Kyrou will report to American Hockey League affiliate Lehigh Valley. Kyrou was a second-round pick (50th overall) in the 2022 NHL Draft.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Kyrou has appeared in 97 career AHL games with the Texas Stars in parts of three seasons (2023-25), recording 12 goals and 38 points. During the 2023-24 season, he led all Texas defensemen in power play goals (three) and ranked second among blueliners with eight goals and 23 points.
