NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The Hartford Marathon Foundation celebrated students from across the state as they ran their final mile at Walnut Hill Park in New Britain Thursday morning.

The initiative was part of the Susie Beris MD Youth Running Program, and more than 1,300 students from 25 different schools arrived to participate despite the lousy weather.

“It's just an amazing program that we're so fortunate to be able to produce,” Josh Miller, president of HMF, said.

Miller added that students ran a couple miles a day over the past several weeks.
