A plan is underway to build a massive artificial intelligence data center in Washtenaw County's Saline Township.

OpenAI, the creator of the popular artificial intelligence product ChatGPT, on Thursday, Oct. 30, made a joint announcement with software giant Oracle and an affiliate of New York-based real estate developer Related Companies that it plans to begin building the data center early next year on 250 acres in the township.
