SANTA CRUZ — The Santa Cruz City Council unanimously voted to bolster its policy giving preference to city residents and local workers for affordable housing units at its meeting Tuesday. The action is the result of efforts by concerned community members in partnership with Councilmembers Gabriela Trigueiro and Susie O’Hara.
“I had the honor of working alongside Councilmember O’Hara and with the mayor, and with community leaders who had already put in quite a bit of time and thought about this,” said Trigueiro at the meeting. “So I am very happy to have worked on this resolution, to have deepened my understanding and to bring this forward, which I hope will reinforce our local workers staying in Santa Cruz.”
