SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- November is just around the corner and as Meteorologist Scot Mundt is about to tell us, it's usually a lot of snow or very little snow.
November starts this weekend and it's the month that many in KELOLAND receive their first measurable snow. But In Sioux Falls, it seems to be an all-or-nothing month when it comes to snow.
Out of 130 years of record keeping, Sioux Falls has recorded nothing to a trace of snow in November 23 times. A tenth to less than an inch, 22 times. That gives an inch or less a total of 55 out of 130, about 42% of the time.
An inch to three inches has been recorded 25 times.
On the other side, a foot or more has fallen in November 15 times, 8 inches to just under a foot 13 times. These combine for 28 years or around 20% of the time.
