MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A six-hour-long hearing to debate the future of the beloved red foxes on Dauphin Island happened Thursday, but there's still no official decision.
Long story short, Mobile Circuit Court Judge Michael Youngpeter isn't sure if this is the right court for the issue.
A federal conservation plan to protect endangered sea turtle and bird species on Dauphin Island's West End Beach calls for removing predators such as the red fox.
Those fighting to protect the foxes say they don't object to the animals' removal, but they don't want them killed or harmed during trapping.
"I think the main thing we learned that's very important is we learned that the buck stops with Jeff Collier and the city council members," Attorney for the animal rights activists, Mary Beth Mantiply, sai
