AUSTIN, Texas — Fort Worth ISD leaders met with Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath Thursday in Austin, pleading their case for why board members should remain in their elected positions.

The trip to Austin comes after the TEA announced plans to take over Fort Worth ISD on Oct. 23. As a result, Morath has the power to remove members of the Fort Worth ISD Board of Trustees from their positions.

Sources told WFAA that the district, represented by four school board trustees and two attorneys, pleaded its case to Morath Thursday afternoon during a one-hour closed-door meeting on why the board should remain in place. Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Dr. Karen Molinar did not attend the meeting.
