The Blue Jays were without leadoff hitter George Springer for their victories in Games 4 and 5 of the World Series. Will he return to the lineup for Game 6 on Friday at Rogers Centre? Manager John Schneider sounds hopeful.
Schneider said Thursday that Springer has “kind of checked every box physically so far” and was “ready to come in” off the bench in Game 5 if the team had needed him.
Springer has been out of action since leaving Game 3 on Monday with right oblique discomfort . He suffered the injury on a swing in the seventh inning. Springer ran in the Dodger Stadium outfield prior to Game 5 and took swings off a pitching machine, but the Blue Jays decided he was not ready to play yet. He will try swinging again on Friday, with the hopes that he will be back atop the order.
