COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A Midlands father of two is sharing his healing journey as a survivor of childhood sexual abuse in the hopes that it helps others realize that they are not.

Sims Tillerson says the path to recovery was long, marked by substance use, shame, and silence.

The message of reclaiming power and breaking stigma is at the heart of Pathways to Healing’s annual 100 Men Against Sexual Violence campaign, a fundraiser and awareness effort that calls on men to stand up for survivors.

“I am a person that pushed all my feelings down and leaned into this more toxic side of masculinity for most of my life,” Tillerson said. “It was not healthy. It was not brave. I was afraid, and I was running.”
