DECATUR, Ala.- Decatur is set to become the new home of the Rock the South music festival.
On Thursday, city officials finalized a contract with Peachtree Entertainment, committing to a $5 million incentive package over the next five years.
Decatur City Councilman Kyle Pike highlighted the potential economic benefits, stating that similar events have generated between $15 million and $20 million in other cities. "As a part of this contract they guarantee 15,000 tickets per day over a three day concert so obviously there's a lot of sales tax revenue from that as well as the sale of things at the event," Pike said.
The contract requires Peachtree Entertainment to provide 7,000 on-site parking spaces, with the city receiving 50% of the parking fees. Additionally, there will be fees for eac
