LAS CRUCES, N.M. —
Former Las Cruces police officer Felipe Hernandez was found guilty after a woman was killed in an October 2023 police shooting .

A jury found Hernandez guilty of voluntary manslaughter after being acquitted of a second-degree murder charge. He will remain in custody until sentencing at a later date.
The early morning shooting resulted in the death of 45-year-old Teresa Gomez . She was approached by Hernandez while inside her vehicle the morning of Oct. 3, 2023.
Hernandez was asked by Gomez to exit the vehicle, leading to him stating the man inside her vehicle was trespassing on the property. This led to an investigation that ultimately ended with Hernandez being shot and killed
