TEXARKANA, Ark. (KTAL/KMSS) – The TSA agents at the Texarkana Regional Airport are among the group of federal workers who are considered essential. This means that during the government shutdown, they still have to show up for work despite not receiving pay.
Paul Mehrlich, executive director of the Texarkana Regional Airport, said, "That becomes very difficult for them because despite their support of their mission, they do still have to put gas in their car, and find a way to eat, and pay their rent."
Luckily, the Harvest Regional Food Bank is also dedicated to its mission.
