A brush fire broke out Thursday near the Gaviota Rest Area.

It was first reported at about 5:36 p.m. along the southbound lanes of Highway 101.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fire was reported to be about an acre in size.

Southbound travelers may experience a lane closure in the area due to the fire.
