Strong winds will be the main weather concern for central Pennsylvania on Friday as a mature storm system moves northeast through New York State. The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from 8 a.m. Friday until midnight Friday night.

West-northwest winds will intensify throughout Friday morning, with gusts expected to reach around 45 mph across much of the region. The strongest winds will occur from late morning through early evening, particularly over the higher terrain of the Laurel Highlands.

Rain showers that have been affecting the area will end for most locations overnight Thursday, though lake-effect rain showers will linger across western mountains through Friday.
