HOUSTON – A man was arrested and now facing multiple charges after a video showed him brutally assaulting a 9-month-old Labrador mix, according to constables with Harris County Precinct 1.

Gerald Allen Young II was arrested on two counts of felony cruelty to a non-livestock animal by means of torture on Thursday.

The video footage showed him repeatedly punching the young dog before lifting him up and violently tossing him down a hallway in the 2600 block of Gramercy Street in southwest Houston.

Officials said the injured puppy was rescued earlier this week and is now under the care of the Houston SPCA’s veterinary team at their on-campus Animal Hospital.
