ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) - It's now been four months since certain employees in the Rochester City School District have received a full paycheck. Because of this, educators and support staff joined together to speak out during the Board of Education's "Speaker Forum," before their regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday.
4th Grade Special Education Paraprofessional Laila McFadden was one individual who spoke during the meeting. She claims to have not received full compensation for her work since the issues began in July.
"How am I supposed to wake up every day, keep a smile on my face, be the best I can be and educate these kids when I'm worrying about how I'm going to pay my car insurance or my college tuition?" McFadden said.
