NIWOT — When the postseason for boys soccer begins in Colorado, whatever may have transpired in the regular season no longer matters. It’s anybody’s game.
Class 4A’s No. 9 Niwot learned that the hard way on a chilly Thursday night, when No. 24 Glenwood Springs pulled off the 3-2, double-overtime upset to halt its season in the first round of state playoffs.
The Demons’ Anderson Orellana delivered the fatal blow with eight minutes, 50 seconds remaining in the second overtime.
“Seedings don’t matter at all,” head coach Stephen Dimit said. “They came down out of the mountains to work really hard today. They kind of jumped all over us. We really didn’t execute the game plan at all, and so we were on plan B and C probably for most of the game. (Plan A was to) possess and just play our way. I
