CUMBERLAND – Abby Theul got the Cranston field hockey team’s second half started with a bang, helping get her team to Sunday’s Division III championship game.
Olivia Martins did the same for Classical – but hers just came at the end.
After getting upset in last year’s Division III semifinals, the Thunderbirds were determined to not fall short this time around. Caught in a scoreless game against the defending D-III champs, Theul found the back of the cage early in the third quarter, popped another before it was done and Cranston took over the game in a 4-0 win over Smithfield to send the program to the championship game.
