It looks like a scene straight out of Scooby Doo, but an offender is on the run after breaking into an eastern suburbs industrial yard while dressed as a ghost.

The bizarre incident unfolded after the offender climbed over a fence and broke into the yard in Bellevue in the early hours of October 19.

Police say he then forced his way into a 40ft sea container and stole “several tools of significant value”.

CCTV footage shows the mysterious offender draped in a blue sheet floating around the yard, before raising their arms to form the outline of a ghost.

Police said the suspect attempted to break into another nearby building, but was unsuccessful in their attempt.
