LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Tribal communities across Nevada are feeling the effects of the government shutdown.
The Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada's Women, Infants, and Children Program, or WIC, spoke with 8 News Now and said the program is secure until the end of November, but money is running out.
On October 8, its offices closed temporarily because of a recent federal funding lapse, but have since reopened.
Its program director, Blanca Plascencia-Reyna, said if no funding comes in the next few days, their staff will be impacted.
"It will be just roughly me, just handling like any emails, any, you know, calls, just getting the status of it," she said. "But you know we're hopeful in the next couple of days that we receive any funding from USDA just to keep operations going."
