NASA's new supersonic jet, the X-59, is set to take its first flight this week. The jet, created in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, is designed to travel faster than the speed of sound while making very little noise.
The X-59 aims to eliminate the signature sonic boom associated with previous supersonic jets like the Concorde. If successful, this technology could potentially be applied to passenger planes.
This advancement could significantly reduce travel time between major cities such as New York City and Los Angeles by half. This would mark a major step forward in the future of air travel.
