PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) - St. Vincent is just a game away from back-to-back state appearances.
The Lady Indians took home a clean 3-0 win over Portageville on Thursday to book their spot in the Volleyball Class 2 State Quarterfinals.
Portageville, however, was the team to score first on the night, the Bulldogs scoring twice before a nine-point run put St. Vincent out ahead in the first set. While the Bulldogs fired off a rally of their own, St. Vincent took control early with a 25-18 win in the first.
Set 2 produced a lot more action, with Portageville building several leads over the set, a loud, red-white-and-blue-clad student section cheering them ahead. Alaina Cates and Kate Rubel’s spikes, however, assisted by Brie Rubel and several other Lady Indians gave St. Vincent a chance late
