Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts wipes out in embarrassing fashion while trying to show off speed
Dave Roberts stole one of the most famous bases in MLB history.
In the 2004 ALCS, everybody in the ballpark knew the Boston Red Sox speedster was running on Mariano Rivera. He swiped second anyway, and before long, Boston had beaten the Yankees, gotten to the World Series and broken the Curse of the Bambino.
Unfortunately for Roberts, it's not 2004 any longer.
He's now the Los Angeles Dodgers ' manager, and with his squad down 3-2 in the World Series to the Toronto Blue Jays , Roberts did what he could on Thursday's off day to keep his team loose. That included an attempt at a race on the basepaths.
One problem: Roberts' footing let him down.
