INDIANAPOLIS — A pedestrian is dead after he was struck by a van in downtown Indianapolis Thursday evening.
The crash happened at Illinois and Maryland streets around 7:45 p.m., police said.
According to an IMPD spokesperson, officers responding to a report of a crash found a person down in street. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but died a short time later.
Police are not releasing the man's identity at this time.
Preliminary investigation by IMPD determined the man walked onto South Illinois Street and laid down. Moments later, he was struck by a minivan, which was traveling north on Illinois Street.
