TEACHERS were wondering Who let the Dogs Out when students abandoned the classroom for the showground during term time.

The 22 schoolchildren, from Inverell and Macintyre High Schools, have woofed up some hands-on learning at the Working Dogs Program at Delungra Showground.

Insights into canine welfare, including training, food and water, handling, health and training with sheep were all taught as part of the day's program.

The program was conceived by the Regional Industry Education Partnerships, which connects schools with employers and industry.

Inverell Show Dog Trial organiser and working dogs trainer Matt Ehsman introduced the students to kelpies, border collies and a German shepherd over the course, hoping to familiarise the students with dogs.
