Spurs make franchise history vs. Heat, improve to 5-0
The San Antonio Spurs continue to dominate the NBA after a 107-101 win over the Miami Heat on Thursday night. The victory marked the first time in franchise history that the Spurs have opened a season 5-0.
It’s a stat that almost feels unbelievable — but it’s true. Since joining the NBA in 1976 as one of four ABA teams absorbed into the league, San Antonio had never started a season undefeated through five games. Over the last 23 years, they’ve gone 4-1 to open the season on ten different occasions, but never 5-0 — until now.
Once again, the Spurs were led by Victor Wembanyama, who continues to look every bit like the generational star he’s been hyped to be. The 20-year-old phenom finished with 27 points
