Elementary school pupils assigned to the bus stop at the Marland Heights fire station in Weirton were treated to some extra Halloween fun Thursday afternoon. Crossing guard Sheila Long, working with the youths’ parents and with support from United Bank, organized a trunk or treat to greet them as they got off the bus. Eight cars were decorated for the event, with other parents distributing from a bowl, offering each child a selection of candy, chips, and other goodies. This was the fourth year for the trunk or treat. Long also works with parents to plan an activity for the Christmas season, complete with a visit from Santa Claus. (Photo by Craig Howell)
