For seven years and across three council terms, the long-promised library in Sanctuary Point has been caught in a cycle of delays, indecision, and debate.
Financial constraints, parking concerns, and disagreements over location have left the community frustrated, with little progress to show.
Earlier this year, plans for the library were abandoned despite years of consultation and $7.5million in federal funding, leaving residents questioning whether the library would ever be built.
On Tuesday, October 28, councillors gathered once again to debate the future of the library.
Cr Bob Proudfoot moved that the council endorse 34 Paradise Beach Road as the preferred location for the library and direct staff to investigate grant options and delivery models.
